Review of Anatomy of a Murder (1959) by Patrick B — 03 Apr 2010
I don't feel that "Anatomy of a Murder" stands far enough apart from other courtroom dramas to be called a masterpiece, but it was great seeing James Stewart and George C. Scott face off against each other in the courtroom.
One thing the movie does do differently is it doesn't set out to pander or sympathize with the accused. The guy can be a complete douche for all we know. What's important in this film is how Beigler (James Stewart) tries to win the case.
I always enjoy a good courtroom drama, and "Anatomy of a Murder" was no different. Check it out if you're a fan of George C. Scott, or Jimmy Stewart, or if you're a fan of courtroom dramas like me.
