I don't know what it is, but I always want to love Jimmy Stewart's characters. I want him to be a character who is altruistic and good in every way. But I am always disappointed, as he plays the morally ambiguous everyman to a tee.
I constantly lose my desires in his brilliant performances, and this is no exception.
