Review of Anatomy of a Murder (1959) by Ann D — 27 Apr 2013
Loved, loved, loved this movie. Great role for Lee Remick. She played the part perfectly, almost southern belle like. We know she's reckless and immature in nature, but to see her portray a wholesome girl to help in the innocence of her abusive husband is engaging.
The persistence of Jimmy Stuart alone in this movie was right on the mark for him as usual. It was nice to see George C. Scott in it as well. He has a way with speaking in a quick way that makes you hold still and listen.
I still want to read the book...but you know you can't hear the jazz play while reading the book. I mean it even won a Grammy for Best Soundtrack 1960. Even all the trial dialogue was neither quiet or boring.
..but full of contemplation. One of those movies you hate to miss a sentence and can't wait until the very last second to watch what happens.
