Review of An Officer and a Gentleman (1982) by Matt M — 19 Jul 2013
Good for nothing young and handsome Zack Mayo enrols in the navy to become a jet pilot, despite his father's mockery, his officer's bullying and with the moral help of his friend and love interest.
There's a nostalgic appeal that runs through An Officer and a Gentleman, of the kind of the classic films. However, it's far too sloppy and clichéd to be more than a simple romantic drama with a strong Richard Gere presence in the lead and a particularly memorable final scene.
