Carey Mulligan was amazing in this movie. But her groundbreaking performance didn't make this film - An Education was really quite good all around. The clever title not only eludes to the literal school education of Mulligan's character (which plays a prominent role in the film), but also her ongoing education in life.
The premise was hardly original, but the approach was, and I thoroughly and surprisingly found myself hanging on every sentence and action. However, the supporting acting performances (Sarsgaard just came off as creepy) and subsequently the characters just didn't work for me, and I can't love a movie without loving the cast.
However, An Education is well worth an evening's worth of your time, so give it a look!
