Review of An Education (2009) by Roger R — 16 Feb 2013
This is a pretty good film, in as much as it is an acutely observed portrayal of the early 1960s Zeitgeist in London (or so it seems). However as much as I admire all the performances and find Carey Mulligan enchanting, I just cannot believe she is 16.
At the time of the films release she was 24 and just does not quite seem naive enough to fall for all the machinations of the admittedly charming Jack. I also can't believe these parents would let their school girl daughter go to Paris with an older man and his "Aunt Helen" without at least meeting "Aunt Helen" first.
