Review of An American Werewolf in London (1981) by Trevor M — 27 Nov 2011
This was amazing! gory, scary, fun, exhilerating, funny! and most important, timeless! it feels like it wasnt a 1981 film but a film from just yesterday that I can still catch at the theater! it is the MOST timeless 80's film I've seen so far!
But I do have some complaints.
I saw this on tv on SyFy (what was once Sci-Fi) and they have to make some cuts which was dont get me wrong, but I felt like it wasnt gore they cut out (that was plentiful) but like scenes were missing, particularly the ending, it just ended. I was disappointed and the ending was sad but I could tell it had just a little more. it ends in the middle of Alex crying. if thats how the film DOES end, then whyd they make it so choppy? but I doubt it since its not the first time ive seen that happen on SyFy.
Well now positives, the acting is quite good. the effects are great. and the photography is amazing! it was filmed beautifully with its shots of rural England and even the grand London. great film! timeless! truly the most remarkable thing ive seen for awhile. and the characters are all likeable. particularly the wolf. hes so dorky and real and you feel for him! same for the love struck Alex. even the scene with all the victims at the porn theater talking to him, hilarious! and despite it, you get that depressing ending. great classic timeless film watch this when you get the chance as classics like this rarley get tv time anymore.
