Review of An American in Paris (1951) by Daniel L — 20 Oct 2009
Is it over yet? I know this film really racked up awards in 1951, and I appreciate the fact that Gene Kelly acted, directed, danced, sang, and choreographed. But it's just not my cup of tea. I was particularly annoyed by the ending sequence.
You have a fairly dramatic moment that is completely ruined by a 20 minute long dance sequence. Then, the end of the movie is just an afterthought. That whole part was just annoying to watch.
