What was the point of this film? I found myself wondering that as I repeatidly fast-forwarded many an abuse scene. There was no arc, or message, or beauty to be found in this account. There wasn't even any psychological explanation, or attempt to probe.
The real story to tell would have been the protests for Gertrude's early parole from prison.
