Review of An Affair to Remember (1957) by Alisa R — 18 May 2008
Umm, I might be the only person on earth who didn't GET this movie. There were so many silly scenes (the kids?!? WTF?), and I really just didn't find it that romantic. I mean, yes, it was sad that he thought she abandoned him, but I really didn't get emotional at all.
I guess I just didn't feel like I cared about the characters very much. Maybe I'm just not as romantic as I thought I was. Also, I thought the whole 'getting hit by a cab and then going all craaaazy' thing was a little silly.
I mean, I suppose it could happen, but it seems terribly unlikely. Also, the grandmother bugged me a lot. All in all, I think Deborah Kerr was much better in The King and I, and I like that film a great deal more.
