Review of An Affair to Remember (1957) by Jack W — 22 Dec 2009
If you're gonna remake a classic, it helps to use the exact script, the same director and go with one of the biggest male stars ever. This plan should work. Yet Love Affair is so much better and in my mind more heartfelt.
Maybe it was Deborah Kerr being a little more icy than Irene Dunne. Or that the use of CinemaScope made the movie feel contrived? Or maybe in the battle with TV the over-saturation of colors in the film was way too much.
Not sure, but Love affair was so much better.
