A #10outof10 (my first of the 2015 releases)! This documentary is PHENOMENAL. The opening scenes had me thinking this was a film with actors. The young #AmyWinehouse (in her teens) looks healthy and happy. This image is very different from the Amy we got to know as she eventually shot to fame.
The doc pretty much chronicles Amyâ(TM)s start, rise, and ultimate demise. She was, it seems, a tortured soul. And like many young celebrities, ill-equipped to deal with fame and fortune (HELLO Lindsay Lohan!).
Most of the film focuses on Amyâ(TM)s making of her classic #BacktoBlack CD and her tumultuous relationship with her eventual ex-husband #BlakeFielder. Blake, and many others, had a lot invested in Amyâ(TM)s continued drug and alcohol use. Her father, in particular, is portrayed in a negative light. Heâ(TM)s since denounced the film and is planning on making his own âcorrectedâ? version.
As tortured as Amy was, she was a talented musician. She had the forethought of having so much of her life documented in film. The footage is amazing. We get to see Amy at home with friends and family. We get to see Amy on stage. We get to see Amy backstage. And we learn that, wherever she was, she was Amy. Itâ(TM)s riveting.
Again, my score: 10 out of 10!
