Review of Amy (2015) by Reece L — 26 Jul 2015
Functioning as both a look into the life of an average person with an incredible talent and an indictment of the ways in which the general public cyclically consumes and abuses those it appoints to the position of celebrity, Amy is as relevant today as will be decades from now.
Unlike so many obvious, overly-commercialized documentaries that deal with similar subject matter, Kapadia's film is a compelling portrait of a troubled icon with an original found-footage set-up that yields both emotionally affecting and unflinchingly honest results.
