Review of Amy (2015) by Hanul C — 17 Sep 2015
I didn't know very much about Amy Winehouse at all before I saw this film, and after I started watching, I didn't want it to end. You feel like you are there with her, almost close enough to touch her, and then the second part of the film takes you on a terrifying rollercoaster ride, and you can't breathe, and you're powerless to stop it, although you want desperately to make it all freeze so you can just reach in and pull Amy away from everything that is hurting her.
In the end, you know she will be taken away from you, but it's Asif's gift to us that we can have the opportunity to at least know the human being behind the genius and fragility that was Amy Winehouse.
