Review of Amsterdam (2022) by Helixrising — 12 Oct 2022
A breath of fresh air. Funny, smart, clever, witty, and amazing acting. Outstanding performance by Christian Bale, Margot Robbie, John David Washington, and every other person of this absolute STACKED cast.
Every familiar face was not only a surprise but each one added their own special quality to this film. I was absolutely captivated by how each and every single character had so much depth and personality.
I found myself wanting more, but the 2 hour and 15 min run time didn't feel long enough. I really was able to fall into this world. Usually, movies can drag along, stretching out every last second of that 2 hour time frame, but I found Amsterdam to be, not only refreshing, but a masterpiece in it's time.
I will not be surprised when this becomes a cult classic. I spent a good part of my morning reading reviews of top critics and I have to say, I'm surprised that these movie critics got lost in the plot, because not only does it have a easy to follow plot, but it was such an enjoyable ride.
This movie has a specific type of humor, and I think that not everyone has that. But even then, it was still such a good watch. Highly recommend.
