Review of Amores Perros (2000) by Robin M — 15 Feb 2009
Borrowing the hyperthreaded storytelling style of Soderberg's Traffic, Inarritu's tells the tales of several inhabitants of Mexico City -- all revolving around dogs. If you can stomach the grittiness, the payoff is worthwhile.
Echevarria crafts one of the most memorable characters ever comitted to film with El Chivo. This was the first time I saw Bernal on screen and he is also impressive in The Science of Sleep. One to watch out for!
