Review of Amores Perros (2000) by Ryan B — 31 Dec 2012
Iñárritu's first part of a thought-provoking trilogy. Its brutal topics attracted the attention of glamorous shows like the Academy Awards and its brilliant minimalist scope and its shockingly accurate and honest portrayal of the real Mexico (those are the streets I walked through several years every day) called the attention of Cannes and other prestigious film festivals. A thunderbolt to the senses and a spectacular conclusion; it may be true that our Mexican guy copies Tarantino's narrative structure, yet analyzing Alejandro's intentions, you realize what makes him different from other copy-paste ripoffs that call themselves "filmmakers".
97/100.
