Review of Amityville II: The Possession (1982) by Tom R — 10 Jun 2008
The most entertaining of the entire Amityville franchise, including the bubble gum remake.
The movie has so much hatred. Exactly the kind of thing this franchise needs. Domestic abuse, child abuse, incest, kids getting shot, taboo language, and lot's of ghost interaction.
The house just seemed pissed off in this one. I would be too with that family living under my roof. I liked how so much poltergeist action happened. It felt more vibrant then the preceded.
The fact that the family actually gets shot and killed in this one makes it all the more worthy. Family values have gone straight to hell. The creepy score is back as well. Backed up the images nicely. The directing was more bleak and ominous I thought, loved the traveling shots through the house.
If it wasn't for that cheap Exorcist rip off ending, this would actually be a superior sequel .
Nothing worth seeking out till the clock one after this. Enjoy.
