Review of American Teen (2008) by Ricardo P — 25 Apr 2009
Not unlike an extended version of an MTV reality show, but did well at the Sundance Movie festival. Interesting from an anthropological perspective, perpetuating the traditional classification system of American highschool life.
I only found one of the characters really sympathetic, and consequently it was difficult to feel much empathy for their difficulties and dilemmas. It was reassuring to see in the closing credits that the characters showed some evidence of self-insight a year later - how many of us would want our final year at school captured forever for posterity like this?
