Review of American Teen (2008) by Jim G — 01 Feb 2009
I enjoyed this movie--it's a slick and very well-done documentary. The kids are interesting, and I imagine that their trials and tribulations are fairly true-to-life and typical of most white middle-class teenagers in Indiana--which leads me to one of the things that disappointed me about this film: apparently, no "American Teen" is black, Latino, Asian, Muslim, Jewish, gay, lesbian, bisexual.
.. Every "American Teen" depicted in this movie is a WASP. Perhaps a better title would have been "White Hoosier Teen.".
