Review of American Splendor (2003) by Rob H — 19 Oct 2009
First biopic ive seen, and was thoroughly impressed. What a very interesting way to film a story. How awkward must it have been for Paul Giamatti to be impersonating Harvey Pekar right next to Harvey Pekar? Bizarre.
My love for Paul Giamatti has only grown. This character was perfect for him. Can't say anyone plays a better grouch.
I went into this movie not having read and of Harvey Pekars works. It didn't detract from the movie, though the film is probably much more enjoyed by his readers. I do though, intent on stopping by my local comic book shop and picking up an issue or two. Really unique stuff.
Fuck David Letterman, haha. Which reminds me, I want to find that youtube. Thanks RT. Out.
