Review of American Sniper (2014) by Manofthemoon — 12 Jan 2015
Highly sanitized version of Chris Kyle's book, Eastwood's film is without the grey areas that make great war films and in a post "Black Hawk Down" or "The Hurt Locker" world, "American Sniper" looks plainly shot and doesn't engage, never creating the sense of threat in the war scenes or reality on the domestic front.
It's a film that wants to be worthy and another that keeps pushing Cooper during awards season. For fans of patriotic, non threatening war films only.
