Review of American Sniper (2014) by Nilufer R — 15 Oct 2015
Clint Eastwood brings you a flag waving take on Iraq and post traumatic stress. Sure certain aspects are given the Hollywood makeover. Sure aspects of post traumatic stressed are shrugged off or ignored.
Sure Iraqis are made to to look vile and Americans can do no wrong. Sure it has many a cliche (the second a supporting character is getting married or having a baby you know they are marked for death).
Given all those arguments against, you still have to admit this is a masterpiece of Hollywood style by a director at the peak of his powers. A winning performance by Bradley Cooper helps.
