Review of American Sniper (2014) by Brad S — 26 Nov 2015

I wanted to like this more, Bradley Cooper is excellent and it's a technically sound film, but it is the storytelling I take issue with. It felt like an extended version of one of those "Join the Marines" commercials.

Everything is pretty black & white, good & bad in the film. Even an action comedy like "Three Kings" was more even handed in my opinion. In any case, nothing can take away from Cooper's performance, I think he has developed into one of the best and most interesting actors working today.
