Review of American Sniper (2014) by Lyn — 24 Jan 2015
"American Sniper" is a straightforward war picture, very well done. It's not pro-war by any stretch, but you can expect some war movie cliches. Bradley Cooper deserves his place on the best actor roster alongside the likes of Benedict Cumberbatch.
(His is about the only memorable performance, honestly.) I think the strength of the film comes from knowing Chris Kyle was a real person -- with real faults, real aspirations, real achievements, real problems, a real family.
He had to work hard to get his sh!t together after his harrowing experiences, and he channeled that strength into helping other veterans. He, and the movie, are worthy of respect.
