Review of American Psycho (2000) by Cheylianie R — 14 Sep 2012
"Hey Paul!".
I read Brett Easton Ellis's book before watching this. I loved the book but wasn't sure if I would love the movie or not. In this film, set in the 1980s, a well to do financier, Patrick Bateman (Christian Bale), who works at Pierce & Pierce on Wall Street who seems like your average man in his late 20s has got it all. A beautiful fiancee, neurotic friends, and an endless line of woman who fall for his sparkling wit and charm. The one thing that people don't know about Patrick, is that he kills people. Particularly women. There is no explanation to his killing other than he is one disturbed and messed up individual.
This is a film that you'll either love it or you will absolutely hate it depending on whether blood and guts gross you out. I was rather entertained with this movie because I had read the book and found that it was extremely well written and I also enjoyed this cinematic horror thrilling fest of a film because Christian Bale is one of my favorite actors ever since I saw Christopher Nolan's Batman movies. So watch this one because this is one film that you don't want to miss out on the experience of watching Bale lose control and his mind! This film is addictive and amazing! It's one of those films that you can watch over and over.
