Review of American Pie Presents: Band Camp (2005) by Lee J — 05 Aug 2010
Lets face it, American Pie ended with American Wedding. Good movies series usually do end in threes don't they? I mean Star Wars did? This spin off isn't far from the original American Pie series. It is about Stifler's little brother Matt who decides to take up the family legacy. Some characters come back, but with only minor roles. Stifler only gets like one scene and the Shermanator is a guidance counselor. The comedy is less raunchy and it does not keep too much legacies. Jim Levenstein is the only legacy that is well kept in there aside from the American Pie theme song. Instead of Jim doing something weird with his penis, it is Matt this time, who go his dick stuck in a trambone (or some kinda instrument).
Either way, the story is slightly believable. After pulling a prank at the band, the Shermanator puts him in band camp. I mean comon its so cliche that only the Shermanator would have though of that. There is development in the storyline, but its not only predictable, but not so much interesting.
As for the comedy, there just isn't much of it. There was too much internal struggle and morality in it. I mean its still there but very lacking and too many dull moments for a comedy. They also lacked a lot of the raunchy stuff. I mean the babes were hot, but not enough nudity as seen in other American Pie movies (except American Wedding, not much nudity in there either). All in all, it just didn't deliver enough and this is suppose to be where it excels best.
It is a very bad part of the American Pie series as is the rest of the continuations and should be only watched if you want to say you finished the entire series.
