Review of American Pie 2 (2001) by Kevon A — 06 Mar 2010
When you hear about a sequel to a movie that rocked, you expect more, you expect bigger and better, and quite correctly, it's what producers, and the team of a film want as well.
It seems just about perfect until you see the movie itself.
Jason Biggs' performance from the first movie to this one has not changed, he was quite alright.
Alyson Hannigan's performance was the same band geek, with a wild sexual side..but here we see her more sensitive side for Jim, her performance was better...overall good.
Thomas Nicolas and Tara Reid portray the mature side of American Pie, their roles are mediocre in such films but the performances were good.
Chris Klein and Mena Suvari continues their relationship in the movie, this time...in long distance. Both characters were not necessary or wanted, but the producers obviously thought their presence from the first American Pie may add flavour. The performances were mediocre.
Eddie Thomas as Finch is another character who is patiently waiting for Stifler's mom, which is THE most popular legend in the franchise. His performance in this movie is better, overall good.
The men that blew eveyone's minds as usual were Eugene Levy and Seann William Scott as Noah Levenstein and Steve Stifler respectively.
Their roles were utterly important, and their performances were Grade A! Definitely a great thing about the franchise.
The direction was alright, I think for the strength of the script, it's a disappointment.
The script itself was not great, but it was workable.
