Katharine Isabelle is stunningly beautiful in this dark tale of body modification that takes a look at the social and emotional ties to what people consider beautiful and personal choice. The film has plenty of skin, disturbing imagery and great performances to keep the viewer glued to the screen.

If it wasn't for the Soska twins lack of being able to convincingly wrap up this film come the last quarter, American Mary might have become the genre film of 2012 that everyone would talk about for years to come.
