Review of American Made (2017) by Elvar Freyr E — 01 Jan 2018
As a pilot, it was refreshing to see a movie where the flying scenes were realistic, especially considering how cringeworthy Top Gun was. The cinematography was phenomenal. However, this movie almost could have been set in 2012 and I wouldn't have known the difference.
Having been to the set of this movie before filming began, I think that more could have been done to take the audience back to the 80's. It is an intensely fun movie that has you on the edge of your seat the entire time.
It absolutely romanticizes the time period, but the fact of the matter is that it was a very romantic period for people who did what Barry Seal did. I recommend this movie to anyone who, but it is quite profane throughout so I caution against it as a family flick.
