Review of American Made (2017) by Sonal V — 23 Oct 2017
"American Made" features an award-worthy performance from Tom Cruise. He plays real-life pilot Barry Seal, who is hired by the CIA for a covert operation, that begins in the year 1978 and goes on till 1986. Cruise plays the role with such style, wit, panache, and dare-devilry that you will never want this movie to end. Tom Cruise has managed to give a rare blend of fun and wit to his character in this movie.
The director Doug Liman has made a masterpiece. He has given the required attention to every detail that is expected when making a movie based on a true story. He has fully captured the atmosphere and trends of the period between 1978 to 1986. The color palette of every scene, the clothes worn by all the actors, the buildings displayed on screen, the cars used, all represent the style of that era.
Apart from Cruise's work, the other two actors who have shined brightly in this film are D. Gleeson and Sarah Wright. Gleeson is excellent as Barry's CIA handler, and Sarah is a real scene-stealer and photogenic.
