Review of American Hustle (2013) by Reena M — 28 Sep 2014
Saw American Hustle on Saturday. From the trailer depicting a con taking place in the 1970s, I thought American Hustle would be this year's Argo, except it doesn't quite get there. Argo was so simple, it was slick.
Although American Hustle isn't complicated, the plot was fluffed up more than necessary. That fluffing up extends to the acting too. There was some overacting from Amy Adams, Christian Bale and in particular from Bradley Cooper, which leaves Jennifer Lawrence to bag all the awards.
Having said that, it's a funny film with a great soundtrack, including David Bowie's The Jean Genie.
