American History X is good, but I only wish that the film were as good as it's first 40 minutes. At times History X is peripheral and preachy, but it surely is one among the best films about racial wars in America. The film's cinematography is splendid and it's direction is commendable. I did not approve of Norton's performance, he was good as the racist Derek, but I did not find his acting emotional enough in the climax.
