Review of American Graffiti (1973) by Calvin C — 19 May 2012
George Lucas before Star Wars. This is a poignant nostalgic classic about four friends spending their last day of summer crusing the town and having fun before they become adults. There really isn't any plot other than seeing the four dealing with the reality of life after high school in their own seperate ways. This film has seen countless copies but this is still the best. Though only those who were alive in 1962 will appreciate it more, anyone who has ever hit the crossroads of high school to college can relate, no matter what decade. The film is supported by a fantastic soundtrack of rock and roll classics and the actors and sets stay alive throughout the night. I loved following these characters around town, even if they spent the majority of the time just driving. See, George Lucas can write!
Grade: A-.
