Review of American Graffiti (1973) by Grant F — 09 Jun 2012
American Graffiti tells the story of a group of recent high school graduates on there last night before they venture into the new world of college life in 1962. It is a coming of age tale that follows the multiple stories of the group of friends that have to finally let go of the comforts of home and face the world. This film was very well done, especially that with the screenplay and the art direction. This 60s good life made me want to jump right into the my screen and live that life when Drive-Ins, Rock & Roll and your car were the leading forms of entertainment. It was almost sad to see how much freedom the US has lost in the last 50 years.
Besides making me loath how much I missed out on in my childhood growing up in the 90s and 2000s,? American Graffiti ?is definitely a film that will grow on me with more viewings. This film had a well deserved ?Best Picture ?nomination being beat out by ?The Sting ?which does deserves its award.
This was a good film that has something for everyone, whether it be cars, love or music. I highly recommend that you visit this film at least once.
