Review of American Beauty (1999) by John T — 21 Feb 2014
Vividly imagined, wholesomely narrated, masterfully filmed and filled with deeply lasting wisdom, Sam Mendes and Alan Ball crafted a near flawless cinematic experience that beautifully critiques the hypocrisy of modern man and, with the aid of the grandeur of the acting performances, especially by Kevin Spacey and Annette Bening, conveys a bleak portrayal of many social truths that we, as members of this supposedly 'developed' society, cannot dispute the veracity of yet, as the movie so tenderly shows, struggle incessantly to escape from.
A true work of art.
