And then I remember to relax, and stop trying to hold on to it, and then it flows through me like rain and I can't feel anything but gratitude for every single moment of my stupid little life... ".
American beauty has been called a drama and a comedy. Yet at the heart, I think it can be called an eye-opening horror film about the modern American nature.
American Beauty is about a man who is tired of the American Dream. Not only is Lester Burnham tired, he is sick and infected with the ideal world of a white-picket fence, matching gardening shoes and pliers, and fake smiles. Maybe a mid-life crisis or maybe a revelation but Lester Burnham can be looked upon as a hero. American Beauty encompasses many modern ideals and stereotypes with the films perfect cast and script. You can't help but feel overwhelmed at certain points in the film because of its bizarre, incredibly-acted, but truthful nature.
We can all learn something from this movie.
