Review of American Beauty (1999) by Meg T — 25 Jan 2016
A decade after it's release, American Beauty has fallen slightly in stature (some people complain about the archetypal characters). Still, Alan Ball did the impossible: he crafted a script for a 50s melodrama throwback, that managed to be both accessible and re-watchable.
I also give props to the man for turning his attention to television afterward, so that he could give us the equally brilliant Six Feet Under.
