Review of American Assassin (2017) by Mare R — 14 Sep 2017
Don't listen to the critics...this was an amazing movie!! I've gotta wonder if the professional critics even watched the same movie I did. I haven't ever read the book, so maybe that's part of the issue for some people, though I learned a long time ago not to compare movies/books.
I accept them each as their own artistic entity. This was a great story reminiscent of the Bourne movies, and the acting, wow! Dylan O'Brien just rocketed his way up the totem pole as one of the best young actors working today.
He played this role like it was made just for him, with an intensity that was remarkable. And Michael Keaton was fantastic as well. The two of them had incredible on-screen chemistry. The plot had just the right balance between action scenes and twisty-turny drama.
I hope there's a sequel in the works because I definitely need more of this!!
