A heist movie unlike many other heist movies because of the fact that it's based on a true story. The actual perpetrators of the attempted robbery tell their story in the movie, and the narrative goes back and forth between their interviews and the reenactment of the actors.
It's very effective and it conveys the actual consequences of their plans and actions (or lack thereof). It's a creative approach that makes everything seem more real and visceral.
