Review of American Animals (2018) by Jluis_001 — 16 Aug 2018
The story itself, despite being real is not that great, it does have appeal and it's interestinf but let's say the reasons behind what the boys did are more attractive than what they ultimately did, their heist.
American Animals has a good rhythm, it's captivating. The narrative style jumps a lot between the dramatization and the interviews more than what I would like but it's never disorienting. The work of the actors is also very good and consistent; Barry Keoghan continues to surprise me and if he continues like this then good things are coming for his career. Evan Peters also leaves a pretty good impression and both of them are who carry the most dramatic weight of the story.
American Animals combines drama, comedy, suspense, a heist story and a documentary style and things went well. This is a very entertaining and rewarding option.
