Review of Amélie (2001) by Jim F — 29 Jun 2012
Lovley movie focusing on the anxiety of love and attraction. It highlights the nervousness of the want of love , but also expresses the sadness of loss and the exastperation of relationships. Amelie is absolutely endearing in her playfulness and imagination.
She epitomises the type of person all artistic and introverted modern women of today aspire to be. She also serves as a lesson for men into the insight of a desirable woman. It teaches men that women like this want to be surprised, played with and don't want the daily druggery of mundane life to thrust into her face.
The scene in the cafe where Nino questions her being the Zorro girl in the photo. The way that she did not expect the initial acknowledgement of her to be pushed upon her in this way making her run to the back of the cafe and just fall on the floor like a bucket of water.
I was also touched by the revelation of who the serial photo booth man turned out to be. This movie excells in imagination and sweetness whilst also maintaining a quick witted pace more than any other subtitled movie I have seen before.
