Review of Amazing Journey: The Story of The Who (2007) by Vivek D — 24 Dec 2009
To be fully honest, I was not anticipating this film as much as I should have. I don?t know a lot about The Who and really, I figured it?d be one of those predictable documentaries with touching clips and repetitive interviews.
However, when the film began, it started in high gear and stayed that way for the duration of the film. It was like I sat in class and learned about The Who, but listened to all their hits and the teacher was Keith Moon (their eccentric drummer).
If you don?t know, Keith Moon is The Who?s drummer, the quite notorious fellow who was the ?who? in The Who. However, the film doesn?t focus on certain people or really try to make a point. They just want people to know The Who was a legendary band, and they succeed by a landslide.
I?ve never been entertained so much in a documentary! It is a thrill ride, and the music is fantastic. Unfortunately, I believe that Amazing Journey may be a difficult movie to pick up or go see, for I got lucky to see its world premiere at TIFF.
This is tragic because if you don?t see this movie, you?re not doing yourself a favor; for even if you?re not a huge rock fan or a ?Who? fan, don?t worry; I wasn?t a huge ?Who? fan either, but now I am.
