This is Fellini's philosophy in Amarcord: "I look at breasts, and I'm a great filmmaker, but it's mostly the breasts thing.. also, fuck Fascism, and I love snow" It makes for one hell of a movie-going experience, particularly if on the big-screen (which, as I learned from a re-release of La Dolce Vita, is the best way to go), but you do kind of need to be a *fan*, not just "I liked La Strada.
