Review of Amadeus (1984) by Anthony S — 07 Dec 2012
I think it has moments of undeniable magnificence, but the Director's Cut, which is the only version is just too damn long and contains scenes that so nothing for the film. I like the choice to play Mozart up as a goofy kid.
This was very smart; however, it does sometimes step into the realm of absurdity. I LOVED the Salieri character and the way he manipulates Mozart's life out of envy. Extremely well played.
