Review of Amadeus (1984) by Robert D — 20 Apr 2016
A brilliant retelling of Mozart's life and misadventures through the eyes of Antonio Saltier, recounting to his confessor why he was driven by jealousy to murder the great man. Historians reject this version -- the two men co-authored a cantata, for instances -- but it's a good story.
One unintended consequence of the movie was a modern surge in popularity of Saltieri's work, largely forgotten for two centuries.
