Review of Amadeus (1984) by Krista T — 26 Feb 2011
It would take several really well-structured rants to capture how impressive I find this film to be, and if you've not seen it please go immediately and do so. Its one of the finest films you'll ever see and a completely unforgettable viewing experience. The music, the sets, the editing, the costumes, the performances - each as inspired and borderline genius as the next. It's hard to imagine there ever being a list of history's 'best' movies that doesn't include Amadeus. It's that good.
And the extended directors cut is actually better. Much better, I would argue. Certain elements of the story that were cut for the theatrical version are reinstated and add a lot of detail important to understanding several lesser but still valuable areas of the plot. [more to come].
