Review of Amadeus (1984) by Man With N — 26 May 2013
When everyone says "It doesn't have to be Amadeus" all the time, they aren't kidding. This is a really heartfelt drama/comedy on the inspirational life of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. All acting from F Murray Abraham to Tom Hulce, was fantastic and gives real heart and depth to the characters.
It's not just a lot of boring bullshit for 2 1/2 hours either; it's really entertaining. One problem people have with the movie is that they didn't want Mozart to be some careless fun-loving fool.
He was that, but he had depth and truly cared about his work, family and it just made me have a better connection with him. If he was some serious guy who takes everything really seriously, the movie would follow him and make it less entertaining and we wouldn't connect to someone who takes everything seriously and by the book.
I'm ranting now so I'll leave off with: This movie is a masterpiece that everyone should see and the MPAA fucked the rating up again. It can be shown to anyone.
