Review of Amadeus (1984) by Thomas P — 05 Jan 2015
If there is such a thing as a perfect film, then this comes the closest. Similar to one of Mozart's works, nothing can be taken out or put in, making for a stupendous cinematic experience. All the characters are well developed and identifiable.
F. Murray Abraham as Antonio Salieri is the best performance, mixing in love and jealousy for Mozart's works. Tom Hulce as Mozart and Jeffery Jones as the Emperor are also worthwhile. Everything else works out nicely, from the cinematography to the sound mixing.
The film deserves all of its awards and every cent it made. If you haven't seen it, check it out.
