Certainly a trip. A psychedelic film rivaling the crazy visuals of 2001 Space Odyssey, but unfortunately uses scare tactics and has an ending that disappoints.
The characters and dialogue are well written and intelligent. The subject matter is deep and psychological. William Hurt does a great job playing polar opposite roles.
However, the ending leaves a lot to be desired. There's no good resolution other than the conclusion of hopelessness, with a lot of questions left on the table.
